On Christmas, many people will go without a home or the financial support of their loved ones. Many of our fellow citizens don't have enough to eat or even a place to lay their heads at night. It's time we break down that barrier and help those who are less fortunate than us. It is also important to remember that everyone needs a little help sometimes in life.
The holidays can be especially difficult for homeless people, who have no place to call home and face empty tables during a time that is supposed to be full of joy. Many of us will be volunteering in some capacity this holiday season, so we wanted to highlight a few opportunities that you can volunteer for if you don’t have your own Christmas event planned.
Many local soup kitchens are always looking for volunteers. It is generally harder to get people to come in and help serve or prepare meals because those who have homes and families want to spend time with them. This leaves many homeless people who are already dealing with the sting of homelessness feeling deflated and alone. A great way to serve is to find your local soup kitchen and volunteer.
Our organization will be out delivering care packages to those displaced and underserved on the streets. For those families struggling at home who have homes we will be delivering up to Christmas Family Food Boxes and even a few gifts as able. Everyone is feeling the sting this year due to inflation but even making a greeting card letting people know they are valued and that you care is a great idea. You don't have to spend a lot or do a lot to make a huge difference in the lives of others.
Many local Church's or organizations also have their own thing that they will be doing so get plugged in. Contact your local churches and let them know you have a desire to serve and how best you could impact your own community.
We also welcome people to go with us as we deliver care packages and family food boxes. There are always opportunities to volunteer and to serve. You are always welcome to help us make a difference through serving or donating.
May you have a Merry Christmas from all of us at Empowering Change Outreach & Services. We love you for all that you do to help make this world a better and brighter place. #loveloudly #merryChristmas
