URGENT: Help Us Serve the Most Vulnerable During Dangerous Heat

As extreme heat bears down across our communities, many of our most vulnerable neighbors — including the elderly, unhoused, children, and those without reliable air conditioning — are at serious risk.
This is a time for compassion, action, and unity.
At Empowering Change, we’re mobilizing our outreach teams across all the areas we serve to distribute cold water, hygiene kits, and emergency support directly to those in need. No one should have to face this dangerous heat alone.
Here’s how you can help protect yourself and others:
☀️ Find Cooling Stations: Each state has designated cooling centers — safe places with air conditioning and water. You can locate them by calling:
2-1-1 from any phone (they’ll direct you to the nearest cooling center)
Or visit your city or county health department website for real-time updates
💧 Stay Hydrated:
Drink water consistently throughout the day (not just when you feel thirsty)
Avoid alcohol and caffeine, which dehydrate
Keep water bottles with you, especially when outside
Use wet cloths and cooling towels if A/C isn’t available
🏠 Check on Others:
Call or visit elderly family, friends, or neighbors
Offer a ride to a cooling station or bring cold drinks/snacks
Be aware of signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, nausea, confusion, and heavy sweating
🤝 Want to Help? Join Us. If you feel called to serve during this critical time, Empowering Change is actively seeking volunteers to assist with outreach, distribution, and support efforts.📧 Email us at: volunteer@empowering4change.org
Let’s be the hands and feet of love in action. Together, we can bring relief, hope, and healing — one cold bottle of water, one caring hand at a time.
Stay safe. Stay aware. Stay loving.
